Parade honors motorcyclist killed in accident

LAWTON, Okla._The life of a military veteran, who died in a motorcycle accident while driving too fast, was remembered by friends and family who took to the streets for a last ride parade in his honor Friday evening.

Jeffrey Walters died on July 3, 2015, after he slammed into the back of a car while driving 80 miles an hour down Southwest 2nd Street. Friday's event started off with a candlelight vigil and was followed by a parade. The parade started at the VFW on Southwest 2nd Street and ended at Mike's Sports Bar and Grille on East Gore Boulevard. Family and friends say they hope other riders learn from Walters' death.

"Motorcycle safety is a must. Helmet safety, seat belt, it's a must. If you're going to ride please ride responsible," said Gayland Flye, one of Walter's friends.

Many motorcycle clubs in the Lawton Fort Sill community showed up in support. They want to remind car and motorcycle drivers to ride safe, so less tragedies like this happen throughout the year.
