Car goes off highway, one dead

COMANCHE COUNTY, Okla._A man is dead and a woman is in critical condition after their car hit a barricade and went off the highway.

According to OHP, the accident happened off of I-44 a mile southwest of Geronimo just before 8 a.m. on Sunday.

Police said the car went off the right side of the road, hit a retaining wall and then impacted the county road below.

Both the driver, 23-year-old Tina Cozad and the passenger 26-year-old Jerald Killfirst, were pinned in the car for about an hour before Geronimo fire freed them.

Killfirst was pronounced dead at the scene. Cozad was medi-flighted to OU Medical Center in critical condition.
