Hiker found dead on Haystack Mountain

HAYSTACK MOUNTAIN, Okla._An Oklahoma man was found dead Monday after he and three other men got lost during a weekend hiking trip.

Tim Tyler was found around noon Monday on Haystack Mountain, about 23 miles north of Mangum. The Greer County Sheriff's Department says that he and three others got lost in the mountain's thick trees on Sunday. An effort to rescue the four hikers began when one of them found a spot with cell phone service and called for help.

OHP, AirEvac and both Altus and Greer County EMS aided in the search, and three of the men were quickly found. A helicopter spotted two of the hikers near a pond, and the third walked toward deputies who were searching on the ground.

Officials are still working to determine the exact cause of Tyler's death.
