LPD hosts 7th annual Cops 'n Kids Poker Run

LAWTON, Okla._The seventh annual Cops ‘n Kids Poker Run, hosted by the Lawton Police Department, takes place this Saturday.

This year, registration for those participating begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Elmer Thomas Park. All of the money raised goes towards the Cops ‘n Kids picnic, which is scheduled for September. So far, Sergeant Stephanie Crawford says they've raised $3,000. She says everyone really comes together for this event and that makes her job all the more better.

"It makes me very proud and excited about it. You get to see that the community really cares about our biggest asset, and that's our children and that's very important," Sergeant Crawford said.

The first bike out will be at 9:00 a.m., Crawford says the last one should arrive back at the park after the 112-mile trip around 3:00 p.m. Saturday.

A few prizes will be given out and Signal 4 will be playing live music at the event as well. For more information, contact Sergeant Crawford at 580-351-6727.
