2 suspects in gun theft in custody

ALTUS, Okla._Altus police are searching for two men they believe are responsible for stealing a pair of handguns from a pawn shop.

Police were called to Go Pawn around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in regard to two stolen guns. Surveillance video shows one of the suspects busy the owner busy while the second suspect reaches over the display case and takes a gun. He then conceals the weapon in his waistband. The suspects then switch roles and steal another gun.

The suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Omar Macias Villegas and 19-year-old Joseph Luis Perez. Villegas is a Hispanic male, 5’7” and weighs approximately 155 pounds. Perez is a Hispanic male, 5’6” and weighs approximately 130 pounds.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of the suspects, call the Altus Police Department at 580-482-4121 or the Altus-Jackson County Crime Stoppers at 580-482-TIPS (8477). You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.

Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy says Joseph Luis Perez turned himself in around 1:00 p.m. Friday. Villegas was found hiding in a shed in the backyard of a home on the 500 block of West Walnut late Friday afternoon.
