Comanche County works to reduce $1.8M budget gap

LAWTON, Okla._The Comanche County Commissioners got an update Monday morning on this year's budget process.

County Commissioner Don Hawthorne says the projected revenue for the 2015/2016 fiscal year is more than $8.7 million. However, the total amount requested by the various department heads is nearly $10.5 million.

Hawthorne says he plans to meet collectively with those involved this week, so those requests can be revised downward to close the gap. Hawthorne hopes to have an updated proposal on the County Commissioner's agenda next Monday.

The budget must be approved by the County Excise Board by the end of August.
