Three children recovering after van rollover crash

ADAIR, Okla._Three children are recovering in the hospital Tuesday morning after a crash sent a church's van rolling in northeast Oklahoma.

The youth group in the 15-passenger van was on their way to a Missouri church camp when the left rear tire blew out causing the crash. Every member of the Fresh Fire Outreach Center Church in the van survived the rollover crash on Will Rogers Turnpike near Adair on Monday.

Two adults and five children - between the age of 5 and 15 were taken to hospital and released. Officials say the three children who are still in a Tulsa hospital, one of them having a collapsed lung, are expected to make a full recovery.

The church members say this crash will not stop them from going on future trips.

The van's front tire blew out just an hour before the second blow out that sent the van rolling. Everyone in the van was wearing a seat belt.

In a 2001 study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, they found that these 15-passengers vans when full are prone to rollovers like this one. Now churches are recommending mini-vans, small school buses or shuttle buses to transport their members.
