2nd annual Freedom Festival gets thumbs up

LAWTON, Okla._The City of Lawton can look forward to another spectacular fireworks display and Fourth of July celebration in 2016.

Tuesday night, the City Council voted to allot $65,000 dollars for a 2nd annual Freedom Festival. City Councilman Keith Jackson headed this year's event and promises next year will be bigger and better.

"We're going to have the largest fireworks display in the entire state of Oklahoma. Last year, we touted ourselves as 'equal to the largest,' but next year we're going to have the largest fireworks display," Jackson said.

Jackson said they received positive feedback from this year's celebration. Planning has already begun for next year's Freedom Festival.
