OSBI investigating deputy shooting a dog

BECKHAM COUNTY, Okla._The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting in western Oklahoma involving a deputy and a dog. It happened after officers responded to a drunk driver on I-40.

Beckham County Sheriff's Office officials say the scene out on I-40 near Sayre was chaos. In a video, deputies tasered 58-year-old Danny Hillis multiple times before he tried to drive away. The deputies reported Hillis was incoherent and hit an officer in the face. You cannot see it in the video, but you can hear the shots that hit the large German shepherd belonging to Hillis that deputies say started to attack them.

Hillis was arrested and booked in Beckham County Jail on a complaint of assaulting an officer. The district attorney will determine if this shooting was justified.
