Altus man arrested after treatment for gunshot

ALTUS, Okla._An Altus man, who was shot in the leg in a gang-related incident July 29, is now behind bars.

Bobby Joe Hurd Jr., 28, was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Oklahoma City Friday. Authorities say Hurd was being treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound when he disappeared July 31. U.S. Marshals tracked him to a family member’s home where Hurd was arrested on warrants for assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.

He has been transferred back to Jackson County to face charges.

Authorities say Hurd has an extensive criminal history and is also a registered sex offender. Police say Hurd is a known Crips gang member.

His bond was set at $100,000.
