Gore and 2nd: Intersection open to traffic

LAWTON, Okla_After two months of construction, the cones and barricades at the intersection of West Gore Boulevard and 2nd Street have been removed.

All lanes of traffic at the intersection are open. City crews began working June 15 to remove the brickwork and replace it with stamped concrete to imitate the brick. That intersection has a history of costly problems with the bricks. The bricks had been replaced several times since they were first installed.

The flooding in May, which caused them to lift and shift, was the last straw.
