OSBI helps investigate Cotton County homicide

TEMPLE, Okla._The Cotton County Sheriff’s Office requested help from OSBI to investigate a suspicious death after a body was found following a house fire.

A teenager living inside the home had called 911 to report a house fire at 190244 County Road North 2700 Monday night. When Temple firefighters arrived on scene, they were able to pull the body of 41-year-old Shannen Brown from inside the home.

Trauma to her body indicated she was killed by a “homicidal act,” not from the fire.

After interviewing the teenager who reported the fire, OSBI agents arrested him for first-degree murder. He has not been charged yet.

The teenager’s age and relationship to the victim have not been made public.
