Fiesta in Fuqua kicks off Saturday morning

DUNCAN, Okla._Duncan's New Life Church is taking the helm of a back-to-school bash to ensure kids are happy and healthy before the new school year begins.

Saturday, August 15, the New Life Church will host the 11th annual "Fiesta in Fuqua" event. There, students from Pre-k all the way to high school will get to play games, eat food and get a bag of school supplies for the upcoming year.

Health, dental and vision screenings will also be on hand, and students to can get haircuts if they need them.

New Life Pastor William Moore says the church is blessed to take over Fiesta in Fuqua, and wants to bring new shoes into the mix in the future.

"We want to continue to make it a fun event. It's not just about getting school supplies. We have exciting, fun games and prizes, so we're always going to work to provide more engaging, exciting games. But if we could provide shoes as well as school supplies, I think that would be a great win for the community," Pastor Moore said.

The festivities start at 8:00 a.m. Saturday at Fuqua Park and end at 11:00 a.m. All students must be accompanied by a parent. Those wanting to help with next year's festivities and beyond can contact the New Life Church as 580-736-4455
