Lawton voters pass 2016 CIP

LAWTON, Okla._Voters in Lawton and Elgin took to the polls Tuesday to make their voices heard.

Lawton voters decided on a proposition to extend a 1.25 percent sales tax until December 31, 2025 to fund the 2016 CIP, which will fund new and alternate water resources, sewer rehabilitation, landfill cells and the Southeast 45th Street widening project. The vote passed 1554-1026; that's a 60.23 percent approval.

Elgin voters decided on a proposition on whether or not to let PSO have a 25-year non-exclusive franchise agreement. The vote passed 47-4; that's a 92.16 percent approval.
