Lawton to start testing fire hydrants

LAWTON, Okla._The City of Lawton will begin testing fire hydrants on September 1.

Lawton usually tests fire hydrants across the city in March, but the drought caused them to suspend testing. The plan is to test every fire hydrant in the city and test for and identify any problems. They will be specifically testing for accessibility and any major problems. They’ll also ensure problems are recorded and repairs are done.

The testing will also help develop and provide current water delivery data to be used for insurance purposes.

The hydrant testing will run through the end of November, unless extended.
