2015 Elgin Football Preview

Elgin took its share of lumps by playing several underclassmen in 2014, resulting in a 2-8 season. However, those youngsters gained valuable experience with the early playing time. In fact, aside from quarterback, they return starters at just about every other key position, something that should make them a much more formidable bunch in 2015.

"We have a lot of players coming back. I believe we have 18 players and I'm very excited for the season," said senior Richard Morigeau.

"The strength of our team is depth. I mean we have a ton of depth. We have 93 kids 9 through 12th grade and we think we will be able to two-platoon and stay fresh. We'll have 11 offensive starters and 11 defensive starters. We feel like that'll be a big advantage for us," said head coach Jason Cunningham.

"You know, as the season wears on, you know, a kid can really get better at one position and whenever they come off the field, we'll be able to correct mistakes before they come back out. Before we'd have to do at halftime," Cunningham added.

The Owls will kick off the season September 4th with a trip to 2A power Hennessey.
