2015 Marlow Football Preview

Marlow has become a regular in the 3A playoffs the last few years. In 2014, the Outlaws reached the second round before they were eliminated by Cushing. Rob Renshaw's ball club is hoping to take the next step in 2015. In order to do that, they'll have to plug some holes left by graduating seniors, especially up front in the offensive line, where they're looking for three new starters to emerge.

"You know we're still moving guys around to different spots trying to figure out where everybody should be. It takes some time,” Renshaw said. “Our first district game is Week 4. You've got your two scrimmages and the first three non-district games to get everybody in position by then."

The Outlaws return a talented group of skill position players led by quarterback Braeden O'Dell, who is entering his third season as the starter. O'Dell accounted for 23 touchdowns as a junior, and has worked hard to further his skills in the passing game.

"I went to Southwest Air a year ago and that's a quarterback and receiver camp. They really taught us the little steps you need to do while passing and handing the ball off. That just really helped me and the other quarterbacks," O’Dell said.

"You can see his arm strength has gotten better. He's faster. He won the 300 hurdles last year in the State Track Meet. Just his overall game,” added Renshaw. “He does a heck of a job as a leader. He doesn't say a whole lot. But you know I had to get him off the scout team because we said we needed a scout team wide out and he jumps in there."

The Outlaws will start the season with back-to-back home games, beginning with Bethany on September 4th.
