Fletcher VFD hosts breakfast fundraiser

FLETCHER, Okla._The Fletcher Volunteer Fire Department will be serving breakfast Saturday morning with the hopes of raising money for updated equipment.

The department needs new air packs and pagers. The new air packs will be lighter and supply the firefighters with longer air-time. In a community that relies on their fire department, it is crucial for them to be well prepared. Nettie Fisher, the town clerk, encourages the community to come out and support their firefighters.

"It's all volunteer. These men just give their time, away from their families. They give their time because they care about this community, and man we do appreciate it," Fisher said.

Breakfast starts at 7:00 a.m. and will be served until 10:30 a.m. at the community center in Fletcher, which is located at 504 W. Cole.

They are operating on a donation only basis, and the Masonic Lodge in Elgin has offered to match up to $1,000.
