Young boy doing well after near drowning

FORT SILL, Okla._The young boy who nearly drowned at the Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area last week is back home.

Fort Sill officials say the boy is now at home with his family and is expected to make a full recovery. The accident happened last Thursday. Reports indicate the boy's father was able to pull him from the lake and give him CPR, getting him breathing before the ambulance arrived.

He was airlifted to a children's unit in Oklahoma City for treatment.

    Cleveland Elementary School hosted their annual science fair. Third through fifth grades from across the district were invited to participate. Each student made their own individual projects for today's fair. Cindy Jenkins, a 5th-grade teacher, said it’s important for the students to learn hands-on experience in science.

    An Oklahoma teacher allegedly attacked an officer during an arrest. Authorities were called to an accident after a driver ran a red light. The driver of the car, Joshua Wann, 29, reportedly smelled like mouthwash and alcohol. Wann, an English teacher at Broken Arrow High School, failed several field sobriety tests and was taken into custody.

State agencies have been told to brace for more cuts due to a nearly $900-million budget gap.
