Inmate attacks jailer charged with assault

LAWTON, Okla._An inmate at the city jail was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery Monday after attacking a jailer.

Court records show the jailer was moving Clorissa Lawson from one cell to another last Thursday, and Lawson was protesting the move. She grabbed the jailer by the hair and then started punching her in the head. Other jailers saw the commotion, stopped the assault and put Lawson into her cell. The jailer was not seriously hurt and refused medical treatment.

Lawson had been originally booked on a shoplifting charge and an outstanding warrant.
