Arrested: Duncan man accused of going too far with discipline

DUNCAN, Okla._A Duncan man is facing child abuse charges after telling police he went too far while spanking his girlfriend's two young children.

Alfonso Valdez, 37, was arrested Sunday after another child turned him in. Valdez is accused of spanking the two boys hard enough to leave extensive bruising on their buttocks and legs. In some areas, police say you could still see the imprint of the belt.

Valdez told police he did it because the boys damaged the speakers in his van. He also said the spankings were "probably excessive."

His bond is set at $150,000.
