2015 Ringling Football Preview

The Ringling football program and the Gandy family have gone hand in hand for several years. Former head coach Tracy Gandy led the Blue Devils to three state titles, as a player, as an assistant coach and as a head coach. Gandy was reassigned by the school this summer after battling health issues. In his place steps former Comanche head coach Steve Justus.

Justus, who led the Indians to two playoff appearances, is making a few changes to his new program, mainly on offense, where the Blue Devils will be opening things up a bit more in 2015. So far the results have been promising.

"We've added a few things and tweaked a little thing here and there and so we are still learning a few things. But our guys have responded to that and have done a good job," Justus said.

"We're looking real good. We're starting to spread things out a little bit, utilizing our athletic ability and just getting more people involved in the game,” said senior Trevor Richardson.

The strength of this year's Ringling squad is up front in the offensive line. The Blue Devils lost one starter, and a big one at that, Riley Daniel, who is now playing ball at Baylor. But they do return four guys who got extensive playing time a year ago.

"We have four of the five starters on the offensive line and a lot of those guys gained experience throughout the year last year, so it's almost like we have five returning starters there,” Justus said.

“You know we've got returners at tight end, and at our split end and so we're really deep and experienced on the kids that we have and I feel like we're going to do a great job on offense this year."

Ringling will kick off the season one week from Friday with a trip to Oklahoma Christian.
