2015 Waurika Football Preview

Waurika is fresh off a four-win season a year ago. Things are trending up for the Eagles, who return pretty much their entire roster, which has created an extremely competitive environment so far in fall camp.

"I have been surprised at the level of competition. You know just like everybody else, we've got a pretty solid starting eight. To be able to have a second eight that there's really no difference, we can interchange kids,” head coach Glenn Howard said. “We're two and three deep at some positions. It's not a luxury I've had as an eight man football coach."

Most of the returners have started for a couple of years. It's a team that jumped from one win in 2013 to four wins in 2014. If they can make similar progress this season, a playoff spot could be in their future.

"We've gone it seems like in a hurry from being really young with a good core of kids to being a junior-senior experienced football team. So far it's making all of the difference," Howard said.

"We look really physical this year. We've got a lot of big kids. We've been starters since like freshman and sophomore year. We're just really experienced now," added senior Mason Boyd.

The Eagles will kick-off the season against rival Ryan on September 4th.
