Benefit concert held in honor of David Crank

LAWTON, Okla._A benefit concert will be held this weekend in honor of former Lawton Rangers president David Crank.

The popular cowboy died last month from heart failure at the age of 61. He was a Lawton Ranger for about 10 years and served as the Rangers president in 2013 and 2014.

All of the money will go to Crank's family to help pay for funeral expenses. The concert will feature a performance by the Chris Caldwell band and other local musicians. Caldwell and band member Robby Crow say it was important for them to give back to a man who meant so much to so many people.

"He was very active in the Rangers and the Rangers helped a lot of people. So in turn, we want to give back to them a little bit," Crow said.

"We just want everyone to come out. If they have a dollar, two dollars, ten dollars...just give with your heart," Caldwell said.

The concert is free, but donations will be accepted. The concert is Saturday night, August 29, from 8:00 p.m. until midnight at the Lawton Rangers rodeo grounds on Southeast 60th Street, just south of Highway 7.
