2015 Hollis Football Preview

Hollis took home the gold ball with an undefeated season in 2013. But the Tigers were never able to recapture that magic a season ago as they finished 10-2 and bowed out in the second round of the playoffs.

"We tried to put in our kids head that we've got to get a burning desire to win a district championship and win a state championship,” said Reade Box, Hollis Head Coach. “Last year, you know, coming off that state championship, I thought we were a little complacent and we didn't prepare like we should have. With these guys this year, we've got to get that burning desire to get you know, to go compete every week, every day and go after our goals."

The Tigers return a ton of talent including a two-year starter at quarterback in Gunnar Ewing and a massive offensive line led by a pair of seniors in Daequon Bell and Jace Webb.

"We like to run the ball, so we have a big front,” said Box. “For Class A football I feel like we got some big size and some guys that have been in our program for three years. Those two guards we were talking about started on that state championship team."

"We got pretty good size this year. Our starting linemen, Daequon and Jace, they're both pretty big and tough to block. And we also got a lot of speed coming back," said Dal Williams, Senior Fullback/Defensive Tackle.

The Tigers will start the season with back-to-back home games beginning with Wellington, Texas on September 4th.
