2015 Duke Football Preview

Duke is also breaking in a new head coach in 2015. Matt Garner inherits a Tiger team that finished 2-8 in 2014. Garner makes the move from Maud, where he was the defensive coordinator. It's on that side of the ball where Duke is making some big changes.

"Our defense is a lot different. I mean it's been a...it's been a few, it's taken a few weeks to try and get everybody in the right spots. I mean we got different keys and reads we're just not use to. They seem to be responding to it pretty well," Garner said.

"I think we're getting along pretty good. He's a...he's a real good coach. Knows what he's talking about and we're kind of hopping on board with what he's got to, got to show us. I think he's going to take us a long way this year," said Luke Milner, Senior Quarterback/Corner.

The Tigers have a good number of returning starters back. The strength of the team appears to be up front where they have an abundance of size, which should allow them to play the physical brand of football Garner wants.

"Well I think we are pretty big and physical up front. I mean we go two...230, 240, 210 up front and then our tight end is 260 and 6'8". So we feel like we can be pretty physical up front and run right at folks,” Garner said. “But at the same time,  Luke is real poised in the pocket and I think he'll be able to throw it. Defensively, we're just all going to run to the football well. We got a little speed and again try to play with a little physicality."

Duke will get a stiff test right off the bat when they head to Waynoka on September 4th.
