DUNCAN, Okla._An assault on a female police officer in Duncan has landed two men in the Stephens County Jail.
It all started just after 10:30 p.m. Monday when the officer saw two men walking down Beech Avenue near 9th Street in Duncan. According to a police report, the officer approached Steven Piercy and Joshua Pomeroy to question them about several recent car burglaries in the area.
A quick background check revealed there was a warrant for Piercy's arrest. He tried to run, but the officer grabbed Piercy. After a brief struggle in which Piercy punched the officer in the chest, he got away and the officer gave chase again.
An off-duty deputy just happened to be driving by and saw the pursuit. He jumped out and joined the chase. They captured Piercy near a convenience store. Once he was handcuffed, they found a used syringe and a small baggie of meth on Piercy. Piercy was arrested for assault and battery on a police officer and drug charges.
