The Tipton Tigers ripped Class C to shreds in 2014, rolling to the gold ball with 14 straight mercy-rule victories. However no team in Class C lost more to graduation. The Tigers will have to replace 14 of their 16 starters. That mass exodus has many wondering just how good Tipton will be in 2015, a question the Tigers are eager to answer.
"I think a lot of people think we're not going to be very good this year because we graduated so much, which is fine. We kind of have a chip on our shoulder," said head coach Travis White. "I mean we want to come out and get after it. I mean these guys have come out and worked really hard and I'm pretty pleased with where we're at."
"I think we're going to be pretty good," added senior Corey Jones. "We're hitting the weight room hard, running our sprints hard and just trying to get better."
With a 4-year starter at quarterback, and a loaded group of running backs and receivers, Tipton was able to open up the offense in 2014. With those players now gone, things will look quite a bit different in 2015.
"We're going to be a lot bigger than what we've been in the past and we're going to look to power some people around a little bit on offense and utilize our size a little more than we have in the past," White said.
"We've relied on our speed so much the last four years, and we're not slow. We've got some kids that can run a little bit. But we are bigger. So we are transitioning our styles a little bit, especially on offense."
