One of the top contenders for the Class C throne in 2015 is Grandfield.. The Bearcats were a win away from the State Championship game a year ago, losing to Cherokee in the Semi's. They return seven starters on both sides of the ball and give coach William Dickey Sr. the most experienced squad he's had at Grandfield.
"These guys have been starting for us ever since they were freshmen, which is a good thing for us because each one of these guys can see what's going on on the field and come talk to us, because like I said, you've been a four-year starter, there's not too many things you haven't seen before," Dickey said.
The Bearcats have seen their win total jump from 4 to 7 to 11 in the three years that this senior class has been on the varsity level. Now they're eager to begin their chase for the gold ball.
"Every day we're coming out here working hard, practicing hard, and in the weight room. On the field, we are all on the same page mentally as well as physically and we're just ready for the season to start," senior Bradyn Fikes said.
