FREDERICK, Okla._ A special little boy was the star of one city's football scrimmage.
The town of Frederick has embraced little Draigen Turman since he was diagnosed with leukemia at just eight weeks old. 7NEWS introduced you to him back in December when he celebrated his first birthday. Thursday, he and his mom got to ride in the Frederick Bomber that leads the team onto the field, after riding the team bus to the stadium. Draigen is not quite two years old, and after being in remission shortly after his first birthday, his condition has worsened. Now, his family has decided to stop treatment, and create some wonderful memories instead.
"We've been blessed with an awesome support system, and I truly believe that prayers and all the love and support that we've received so far has gotten him through this last few months," said Draigen's mom Hayley Whitson.
The Frederick Booster Club collected donations for Draigen's family Thursday night, and held some raffles, too. They raised around $3,500. If you'd like to donate there's also a gofundme account in Draigen's name.
