In Class B, Cyril has a new head coach in 2015. Trevor Knight takes over the Pirate program after spending time as an assistant coach in Tipton. There to help him is his little brother Tanner, who won a pair of championships with the Tigers. That experience with arguably the top 8-man program in the state the last few years has made it easier for their new team to buy in.
"I think it's always easier when you can prove you've done something before.. You can just almost recreate it just with what you've done. And bringing him over has really been a big help for them," Trevor Knight said.
"The team really loves him. We all really get along with him," sophomore Joshua Garza said. "I think he brings a lot to the table because he's coming from a championship team and bringing us their plays and all of that kind of stuff."
At Tipton, Knight was used to spreading things out and throwing the ball more than you typically see at the 8-man level. He's hoping to bring a similar style to Cyril.
"Well we're going to spread the ball more than they usually do. I mean we're going to bring a little something that we used last year and kind of invert in to what they can do here and just make the best of it," Knight said.
