Pedestrian hit by car

LAWTON, Okla._A pedestrian was hospitalized Friday after police say he walked into the line of traffic.

It happened early Friday evening near southwest 13th Street and Lee Boulevard. Police say a driver had a green light and was attempting to turn west onto Lee Boulevard when a pedestrian standing in the median stepped into the roadway. The driver told police, was once he saw the pedestrian, it was too late.

The extent of his injuries are unknown.

    The Altus Animal Welfare Association and the City of Altus have been awarded a $10,000 grant to better the lives of shelter animals. Maddie's Fund awarded the grant, which will fund a new director for the city's "SHAPE" program. The SHAPE program aims to provide enrichment activities for shelter animals, to better improve their chances of being adopted. The SHAPE Director will check on animals health, socialize them and do basic command training for dogs.

    A Duncan woman has been reappointed to serve on the Oklahoma Health Care Authority Board of Directors. Tanya Case was appointed to serve a second four-year term on the board by House Speaker Charles McCall. She will help oversee the agency responsible for the care and health of over one-million Oklahomans. Case has worked in health care for 35 years, with much of that spent in leadership positions.
