Police investigate woman's death

LAWTON, Okla._A single car accident on Lawton's west side left one woman dead.

A woman's body was found around 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in an alley behind a business complex on Northwest Gore Boulevard and 44th Street. She had died from a severe head injury, but police still aren't sure how it happened.

Police spent most of the day collecting evidence. They are investigating it as a single-car accident, because the woman's body was found about 10 to 15 feet away from a pickup in the alley. Investigators taped off the parking lot on the backside of nearby businesses and cut access to the alley.

During their investigation, police were primarily looking at the front driver side tire of a Chevrolet truck. A medical examiner arrived around 12:30 p.m. and began his investigation into what happened. He wrapped up his work in a couple of hours.

Police are still piecing together evidence and conducting interviews. They expect to release more information Thursday morning.
