Commissioners approve funding transfer for road project

LAWTON, Okla._Comanche County Commissioners approved a proposal to take $244,000 from the Home Finance Principal Fund and put it toward construction in eastern Comanche County.

The money is half of what it would cost to repair a stretch of Flower Mound Road from Bishop Road to Tinney Road. The other half of the money will come from FEMA grants.

District 1 Commissioner Gail Turner says recent flooding washed out bridges and left the road heavily damaged, which will be completed before the Flower Mound Road project starts.

He anticipates the construction starting in late winter or early spring.
