LHS, MacArthur prepare for first city game of season

On Friday, Lawton gets its first city match-up as MacArthur hosts Lawton High. Last year the Highlanders got the best of the Wolverines in a nail-biter 35-33. For Lawton High, they understand that the defending 5A state champs are a skilled football team at every spot.

"That's a very good football team. They do an awful lot offensively, defensively and special teams. They go against the grain and a lot of stuff there. They're hard to prepare for. It's going to be a great high school football game. I think it should probably be the number one game in the state," said Randy Breeze, LHS Head Coach.

MacArthur respects LHS in the same regard and coaches preach to their players to learn from the rivalry game of this magnitude.

"Lawton High is always one of the most talented teams in the state. It's always a big challenge for us. And you know, it's a great atmosphere, it's a fun week and I've just told our kids to enjoy it and take it for what it is, which is an opportunity to get better. And take each day in practice to improve and hopefully we can be a better team this week than we were last week," said Brett Manning, MacArthur Head Coach.

Their game begins Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at MacArthur.
