Million Meals campaign fills 14,000 bags

LAWTON, Okla._The results are in, about 90 Arvest Bank workers filled 14,000 bags in 30 minutes Thursday as part of their 5th annual Million Meals campaign.

The group set up their assembly line operation at Western Hills Church of Christ. Last year, they packed 12,486 food bags and set a goal of 13,000 this year, which they broke with ease. Each bag feeds up to eight people. The campaign's mission statement is 'People helping people' and with that they hope to help fight food insecurity in Oklahoma.

"There are several families that go to bed hungry each night, and a lot of those are children. So, pretty much everyone knows somebody that's struggling with food insecurity. We're just happy to help with our part and to help those families," said marketing manager Angela Spradlin.

If you would like to help out the Million Meals campaign, you can donate money or food items at any Arvest Bank. Their next event will be the morning of Friday, September 18. They will be giving away free coffee and donuts at their branches, and they want people to donate the money they would have spent on breakfast.
