Man arrested after stopping in middle of intersection

LAWTON, Okla._Lawton police arrested a man for drug possession after he stopped 30 feet past a red light.

Police say Wayne Tanner was eastbound on Northwest Cache Road at 67th Street when he came to a stop in the middle of the intersection just before 12:30 a.m. Friday. The officer pulled Tanner over at a nearby gas station and said he could smell marijuana as soon as Tanner opened his car door. The officer had Tanner wait by the front of the patrol car until another officer arrived.

When the officer’s back-up arrived, he started to search the vehicle. That search turned up a Styrofoam cup half filled with a liquid with marijuana floating on top. They also found a yellow baggie with methamphetamine in a door handle.

Tanner was arrested on complaints of disobeying a traffic light and possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.
