LPD ready for annual Cops N Kids picnic

LAWTON, Okla._Lawton's Cops N Kids picnic kicks off Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

Nearly 3,000 people showed up to last year's picnic. Lawton Police Sergeant Stephanie Crawford says a few new things will be featured at this year's picnic, including Impact Zone Wrestling.

Sergeant Crawford says adults will enjoy the picnic as well with the Changing Lanes Club and Lawton Antique Auto Club, featuring Dodge Chargers and older automobiles. Sergeant Crawford says this is a great way to come out and meet local and state law enforcement.

"It has a very important meaning to us. This way, they can see us in a positive light and see that we are just ordinary people doing an extraordinary job. And for us to spend time with them in a positive way," Sgt. Crawford said.

Sergeant Crawford says they encourage people to come a little early for a free t-shirt. The fun begins at 10:00 a.m. and continues until 1:00 p.m. on the east side of Elmer Thomas Park by the Holiday House.
