SNYDER, Okla._New information Monday night on that the grass fire on the city's west side Monday afternoon.

The fire near Snyder was caused by construction at the U.S. 62 and U.S. 183 interchange. More than ten fire departments responded to the fire that was caused by a worker welding on the bridge. Assistant Fire Chief Dale Saul says crews were called out just after 3:00 p.m. and spent nearly three hours containing the fire. As of 6:30 p.m., they had most of the fire put out. Saul says they will continue to monitor hay bales that will likely burn for for several more hours. He says Monday's strong winds contributed to how quickly the fire spread, and could just as easily re-spark the blaze.

Luckily, no homes were threatened, but Saul said seven horses were killed in the fire.
