Erratic cyclist arrested early Tuesday morning

LAWTON, Okla._A less than routine traffic stop overnight in Lawton landed a man behind bars.

Lawton police say James Copeland Jr. was pulled over around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday for riding his bicycle erratically near Northwest 16th Street and Cache Road. Police say Copeland initially gave the officer a fake name and social security number, but a check of the second social security number he gave revealed he had a warrant for failing to follow the conditions of his release after a robbery conviction.

The officer also found a nine-inch knife in Copeland's possession.

He now faces several charges, including failure to obey a traffic signal and more jail time for that previous robbery conviction.
