Lawton Police retire K9

LAWTON, Okla._Lawton Police retired one of their own Tuesday.

Kano was one of two K-9's working for the department. In his 4 years of service, he sniffed more than $170,000 worth of drugs off the Lawton streets.

Police Chief James Smith said Tuesday, the department is hoping to purchase two more unit dogs. They are special dogs from Germany, each costing up to $6,000, and requiring 4 weeks of training.

So no definite time frame on when those dogs would be bought and ready to serve.
