Two seriously injured in head-on collision

JACKSON COUNTY, Okla._Two drivers were seriously injured Wednesday evening in a head-on collision.

The collision happened on a curve in the road on Highway 62 about one mile east of the town of Duke. Two air evac helicopters arrived on scene to treat each of the drivers. A female driver was pulled from her car with multiple injuries and airlifted from the scene, as emergency personnel worked to free a second driver from the wreckage. Both were taken to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. No word on their conditions or the cause of the accident.

Both east and westbound lanes of the highway were shut down for nearly two hours while crews treated the victims, and cleared away the wreckage.
