CCMH honors patient with courage award

LAWTON, Okla._Patients came together to celebrate their improvement at the 5th Annual Rehab Reunion at the Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center at Comanche County Memorial Hospital Wednesday night.

They were also treated to the announcement of this year's recipient of the Jim Thorpe Courage Award. It went to Nancy Swain, who suffered a stroke last February, and is still a patient at the center. Her husband Rick credits the wonderful staff for his wife's progression.

"They picked her up while she was still going down with the stroke and worked with her ever since and it's been a marvel. I've sat and watched this and they are her inspiration, it is just that simple," award recipient's husband Rick Swain said.

The award is given to a patient whom the staff feels has been able to meet the challenge of whatever has happened to them with courage.

The staff says this described Mrs. Swain perfectly.
