2nd Annual Lawton Pointe block party

LAWTON, Okla._Hundreds came out for the 2nd Annual Lawton Pointe Block Party Saturday.

Nine bands performed, there were free haircuts for kids, face painting, bounce houses, and of course food.

Unity Lawton volunteer Steve Tiemann, said this event provides a fun-faith based day for the community.

"It's a rougher part of town in some people's view, and so we're trying to do something positive out here. We're trying to show that God loves us, God takes care of us and that faith-based fun is a great alternative to some of the other rougher stuff that they see out here," Tiemann said.

Last year there were over 800 people who attended, and volunteers said they expect to exceed that this year. The party wrapped up at 7 p.m. Saturday. This year’s event was sponsored by Unity Lawton, with the help of many area churches and non-profits.
