LAWTON, Okla._A woman was arrested Sunday morning after trying to rob a Lawton Stripes.
Police say 34-year-old Taneesha Dodd entered the Stripes at Southwest 11th Street and Lee Boulevard with a white plastic bag tied around her face just before 5:00 a.m. They say Dodd put an open pack of grape cigarillos on the counter and asked the cashier to exchange it for a new one. When the cashier refused, Dodd requested a pen and paper, with which she used to write a note formally declaring she was robbing the convenience store.
Another woman was in the store at the time and got in line behind Dodd. Dodd reportedly turned around and stated, "Ma'am you might want to leave." The customer backed herself to the door, left and called police.
Dodd demanded both cash registers' money, warning the cashier that she had a gun in her bag. But the employee simply told her "no" and began to call the police. Dodd tried to grab the phone, but then left the store and drove off.
