Senate Democrats block VA funding bill

WASHINGTON_A military funding bill that would provide millions of dollars for construction projects in southwest Oklahoma has been blocked by Democrats in the U.S. Senate.

The bill would allocate $56 million for phase two or the reception barracks complex at Fort Sill, and an additional $13.4 million for a training support facility. It also included $18 million for a 120-room dormitory at Altus Air Force base, and

$10.4 million for a fuel cell maintenance hangar. It also includes more than $160 billion in funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Thursday, Oklahoma's senior U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe called on Democrats to work across the aisle to reach an agreement that will allow the funding bill to move forward.
