Walters prepares for annual Car Cruz

WALTERS, Okla._The City of Walters is planning to host dozens of hot rods Saturday as part of their annual Car Cruz.

Hundreds of people are expected to show up to see the car show, burnout contest and motorcycle show. On Saturday, seven young girls will be chosen for the titles of Car Cruz Queen and Princess. Kim Richardson says this is her second year organizing the motorcycle portion of the event and says she is most excited to see the motorcycle chosen as Best in Show.

"It's amazing what people will do to their motorcycles. We run with a lot of different people and there is a lot of different things that you can do to them, so it's really neat to see the imagination that comes out," Richardson said.

The money from the Car Cruz goes into a fund held by the Walters Chamber of Commerce, which helps groups like the Food Bank and youth programs in the city.

Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. and festivities are expected to wrap up around midnight Saturday. The citywide garage sale is also Saturday morning starting at 7:00 a.m.
