Church giveaway helps community

LAWTON, Okla._The Greater Galilee Baptist Church in Lawton gave away items donated from within the church in support of the community Saturday morning.

The church had plenty of shirts, shoes, household items and of course hot dogs on hand for the giveaway, and used the event as a kickoff to their 78th anniversary celebration, which takes place later this month.

Janice Holmes helped organize the event, she says it gives her a special feeling when she can support those who can't support themselves.

"It warms my heart, just to be able to give back. God is so faithful, I can't say enough, it's just wonderful that the community responded and the church responded. All of this stuff here was donated by the church family," Holmes said.

Holmes said she can't wait to be able to host another event like this in the future. The church will celebrate its 78th anniversary on October 18th.
