Lawton GPTC students clean Arnold Park

LAWTON, Okla._Despite the rainy weather, a group of students from the Great Plains Technology Center spent Friday morning cleaning up Arnold Park.

The students are in the center's SCORE program, which stands for School of Career Opportunities and Real Education. The cleanup was part of their life skills class.

"A lot of our students are out here, they're wanting to paint, wanting to pick up trash-- even in the rain they're out and ready to go!," said Chris Helton, Life Skills Coordinator.

The students picked up trash and painted both the playground equipment and the benches along the park's walking trail.

The "SCORE" program is a dropout recovery program that has helped thousands of students obtain their high school diplomas.
