Woman arrested, smuggling contraband into jail

LAWTON, Okla._A woman is behind bars after she tried to smuggle contraband to an inmate at the local prison. 

According to the police report, Leann Reardon was visiting an inmate at Lawton Correctional Facility Saturday afternoon. 

After her visitation, corrections officers recovered two baggies while searching the inmate. They checked surveillance video that revealed Reardon pulling the contraband from her jacket and passing it across the table to the inmate.

One of the baggies had almost 12 grams of marijuana and the other had about 30 grams of tobacco. Reardon was arrested, and booked for contraband in a jail.

    The United Way of Stephens County is looking for volunteers to sign up for the Readers & Leaders program for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first-grade students in the Duncan Public School System. Around twenty volunteers have already agreed to spend 30 minutes a week in the classrooms once the new school year begins. The goal is to find 40 readers to help 32 teachers in 32 classrooms.
